Oh No You Didn't

Hate to get all ghetto here but I had an "ohnoyoudidn't" moment last night and I had to share.

It was super busy at the Lamp last night. My friend was there with a bunch of school friends (they are all in the MBA program at SDSU and finished their last final last night.) So the list was seriously out of control. But I'm me and you know Eric is gonna take care of me, right? Right. So someone sang the song I was planning to sing so I went back up there to change what I had put up. And this chick would not give me the list. I'm like "I just have to change my song." And she was seriously ornery with me and told me that I was being a bish. Cue...

"ohnoyoudidn't"

So I told her that I was sober and she was drunk and if she knew what was good for her, she'd leave me alone. Then as I walked past my friend, I told him - is that your friend over there? Because she is being a beyotch. And walked away.

Oh, and I did get to sing. Score one for the longtime bar patron over drunk stupid amateur bishes any day.

Crazy Cool

Sunday has been the best night for karaoke for a long time now. Mostly because of the rock kids. But yeah, this Sunday, I was so impressed by Jared. He freaking did Savage Garden's "Truly Madly Deeply" but had Mitchell speed it up so it was all punk rock. Mad props!

Boys from the East Side

I ducked into the Lamp for a bit last night. Thursday night crowds are always random and last night was no exception. So I was sitting around, minding my business when some dude sits next to me and starts talking me up. He had an accent that I guessed was Philly, but it was actually Jersey. Or Joizey. Haha.

Anyways, he was interesting enough to talk to. We had a whole convo about how East Coast guys are different from the guys out here. Which is a good thing. I honestly don't think I'd ever date someone from here - they've got issues, man.

So, of course, he tries to buy me a drink, but I beg off because I had a bunch to drink earlier and I wasn't staying. Plus, I didn't want him to think I was interested. So I told him that I was taken care of since Russ and Rick were bartending. He backed off a bit, but then he had to bust out his wallet to pay and the dude was rolling with about 2 grand in his wallet. I shit you not.

Anyways, I hope he found some other victim to woo. Because as much as I love my Boys from the East side...an italian dude rolling with 2K at the Lamp is suspect to me. Ya know?

Your Life (and mine) in song

Singing has always been a way for me to let out my feelings. I'm not one to show emotion, but if you know me, you can tell how I'm feeling by what I am singing. Tonight, I tested my voice with Hole's "Celebrity Skin". That went over well and I knew I could really sing a song that would get out some of my frustrations. And that would be No Doubt's "Don't Speak". Sarah and I talked about how awesome it was for Gwen to write lyrics about her failed relationship with her ex (and bandmate) Tony for all the world to see. Gwen's songs have always been about putting her heart and feelings out there.

So, yeah. I chose that song to sing because that is how I am feeling. And it felt good to sing one like I really meant it and have other people appreciate the intensity of what I was doing.

Don't speak...
I know what you're thinking
And I don't need your reasons.
Don't tell me because it hurts.....

Cougar sighting at the Lamp

Cougar sightings are quite frequent at the Lamp, but damn if we didn't get a live one last night.

She sicced on the two guys from Georgia (one visiting the one that lives here now.) And then she harassed the nice rock boys in the corner (um, that would be two members of the great local band, Scarlet Symphony plus a couple of their friends).

Hilarity ensued. You missed a good night (including Russ making his way through Muse's "Stockholm Syndrome". Tough song, but by the end, he was golden.)

See you at the Lamp again soon.

Every Day Is Like Sunday

I haven't been to the Lamp on a Sunday in forever, but it was the place to be after the Morrissey show. Lots of stuff went on, but there is one story that needs to be told for posterity.

I went out for a smoke and when I came back, some lady was in my seat. I politely kicked her out and then got a good look at her. She had a black eye and was all haggard looking. Great, how come I get to deal with the crazies? I pretty much tried to ignore her. She went away for a bit. But not for a good reason. Next thing you know she is over by the pool table and flashing these guys who were taking photos. But that wasn't enough for her. She took off her top, then her wife beater (no bra) and started to really parade the boobs. Now if you know me, I am not one to hate on the flashing, but she really crossed a line there. So I told Russ who promptly kicked her out of the bar.

So she comes back over to where I was at (her backpack was there) and tells this guy standing next to me that she was getting kicked out for flashing but that it was lame because she's a lesbian. So he was joking around and flashed her and then she licked his nipples. EW!!!!

Just another day at the bar, huh????
